SINIY CRAB Little Theatre |

|
|
| |
| Profile of the group
Beginning as an ordinary school theatre, studio Siniy Crab (Blue Crab) opened its 14th season in 2009. It is now based at the House of Children's Creative Work. The first blue crabs are now school-leavers and college graduates, nevertheless some continue acting or teaching here. Siniy Crab's work philosophy is engagement of children of different ages. Children aged 4 to 25 study and act in the studio's productions together. This helps to create a family environment (and their parents are also involved in the studio's activities). About 80 children attend the studio.
With an eye to preserving the atmosphere of freedom, joyous creation and mutual understanding the studio leaders created their own theatre holidays to mark especially significant events: the opening of every new season, Holiday of Little Flashlights, New Years Little Pockets, Initiation of Neophytes, summer hikes etc.
The studio instructors try hard to help each child develop his/her individuality. The theme of a new performance is worked out on the basic of psychological needs of the current cast where rehearsing turns into real-life situations for children to share new emotional experience. So all the performances are composed by the entire group, and if they are based on a fairy-tale or any other work of literature, these are re-worked into their own version. Based on the grades (years of study) and age of its students, Siniy Crab has the following structure:- basic group, "musketeers", "snow" group, "aquarium", adult group (instructors in junior groups) and parents group. Children are trained by artistic director as well as teachers of singing and body balance. In the last several years studio theatre was a success at the regional and international festivals. |

Youth Theatre FloppiFRaasi is a part of the basic art education program of the Community College, Joensuu Area. Young students study drama and theatre through this basic art education program. Amid vocational education, there is a special Finnish system of art education; Basic Art Education. It is a system apart from the compulsory education. It is based on special legislation and public financing. Basic art education is voluntary and target oriented, which has been aimed at children and young people, primarily, but it serves adults too.
The Community College of Joensuu Area was established in 2006 when the six neighboring community colleges were merged. It began with the aim to offer adequate education to adults who've obtained little training.
By law, the objectives of art education are based on national curriculum and applied to local circumstances. The education in theatrical expression is target based to ensure its progress over years.
Here teaching begins with art education, underlining the values of art. The contents and teaching methods are arranged in a manner to suit student's age and development phase.
It offers more than just classroom studies to make the dreams of its students, come true. |
