Synopsis of the play

School re-opens after summer vacation. It's the first day of the school, some students are happy to come back and some of them feel restless, as they have not done their holiday homework. Rahul enters and feels agitated as to why schools have re-opened and his work and his work is also not complete. He does not like books and feel that they are a burden. He is sent back home by his Principal and warned to complete his homework in two days. After reaching home he finds that his sister Anju has also not completed her homework. Both of them feel that they get homework because of books and they call these books their enemies. The icing on the cake comes then their father brings a gift of books which they tear off. At midnight all the books come alive and rebel and decide not to stay with them any more. When Anju and Rahul see the books leaving, they get scared about what they will tell their parents the next day. They follow the books with Ranga, who is the messenger of Book Land , so both of them reach Book Land with him.

King of books is happy to have Puss in Boots from England , Ali Baba from Arab, Pied piper from Hamelin & Cinderella who have come all the way to India to meet him. All the crying books also reach and complain about Rahul and Anju. But, by this time both the children had seen the life that exists in books and realized that even these books get hurt if torn. The play ends when both of them decide that they will do their homework and enjoy reading books.
